2021 Nov (Thur) Japan’s Luxury Market Shifts – The New Normal Or Nothing New?

Following the war, Japan rose to the second largest economy in the world.  That economic power translated into buying power that brought some of the worlds best brands to the marketplace.  As China has arisen and Japan is one of the first countries to experience an aging populace things may have changed.  Retailers in the major shopping hubs such as Ginza, Namba, Sakae may have seen a transition from local buyers to international visitors from around Asia buying up their fine products.  Where is the Japan market heading for luxury goods?  Who is the target audience?  What are the types of products that they are most interested in within luxury?
