What CEOs Need to Understand About Healthcare in Japan

June 11 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm JST
Free

Health and fitness is a recurring theme at our CEO Insights meetings — because a healthy team is a productive team, and every CEO needs a solid grasp of how to keep their people (and their business) running well.

For our June CEO Insights lunch, we’re pleased to welcome Dr. Kenji Taylor, a US-trained family medicine physician practicing in Japan. The session will introduce a few of the most common healthcare questions that come up for executives in Japan including the ningen dock, mental health, and key differences between Japanese and US medical practice. The format will be an interactive discussion between our member CEOs and Dr. Kenji.
Dr. Kenji will give a brief overview of the topics below, followed by open discussion. Please feel free to submit questions or areas of particular interest in advance.

Ningen dock (the annual physical) — how to extract real value from these services
Mental health — why it matters and how to keep your team well

He holds a AB, ScB and MSc from Brown University in East Asian Studies, Neuroengineering, and Entrepreneurship. He first connected with Japan as an exchange student at Keio University. He completed residency and chief residency in Family and Community Medicine at UCSF, followed by a health policy fellowship at Stanford, where he later joined the faculty.

Five years ago, Dr. Taylor moved to Japan to work with the US Department of Defense in Zama before founding Torii Health, a practice serving the American military-connected community in Japan. He and his wife, also American, are part of the growing American immigrant community in Japan, raising three young children navigating a new language and culture. He is passionate about addressing health disparities and applying systems-level thinking to complex problems.
