2017 Nov C8 – Performance- Making A Difference In Evaluating And Reporting Results

Every boss expects good results. When we talk results, the sales people and business development teams are the first players to come under the gun. Sales is the lifeblood of every organization. No matter how great the product, if it doesn’t sell we don’t see that company in the market for very long.

In the November CEO Insights meeting, bosses will discuss performance. As the calendar year comes to end, the arbitrary Jan to Dec time period gives us a chance to evaluate our sales teams, our customer service teams, product development, management teams, the company as a whole, and even ourselves. Many of our membership reports back to an international headquarters elsewhere. The way a CEO reports their performance back to the head office.

Exclusive Opportunity – What Is This Cloud Exactly? Clear The Mist And See First Hand

As the CEO, we hear a lot about the cloud. All the sales people are telling us about the benefits of the cloud.  The head office is pulling servers and systems from our local offices, and nearly every app on our smartphone or tablet touts some type of cloud based technology.

On October 25th you will have the exclusive once in a lifetime opportunity to see what the cloud is up front and close at a new data center (DC) opening by Colt Data Centre Services (formerly KVH) the Fidelity Investments owned provider. The ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of their state of the art facility with special guest speaker, the corporate CEO and number of other SVPs and executives there.  This new concept is called “Hyperscale”.

You will get a tour seeing the unique design features (including a Japanese zen garden), plus all the protective seismic and security aspects. You will better understand how the global internet infrastructure really works. You may nominate an IT director of your company to go in your place, if you wish.

2017 Oct G3- Practical Tips For Busy CEOs on Staying Mentally and Physically Healthy

When we are busy our health is the last thing we think to look after. We get caught up in the mindset that we don’t have time. This is a mistake and it does not have to be this way. Most of the Fortune 500 CEOs exercise at least once each day, and others do some form of meditation or quiet time.
This is no coincidence. It doesn’t have to be a choice of work or health. The two can go together.

Long time Japan resident, and entrepreneur Andy Morgan will join us for a special meeting about you, the CEO. Andy will drawing on his experience of coaching people over the last 6 years in his fitness business, that brings the latest in health and fitness to the Japanese market from the West. Andy will share practical insights on how he has helped busy execs and entrepreneurs look after their health and stay on-top of business.

2017 Oct C8 -Being The CEO Who Presents With Panache

One of the most important skills in business is the ability to make presentations in a manner that will engage, educate, or sometimes entertain your audience. You may be presenting a business plan, a new idea, a change in sales methods or any other topic. What you are presenting is important, but how you deliver it is even more important. You want your message to be heard, sure, but more than that you want your message to be remembered. Our guest will share insights from his years of Toastmasters experience as well as the lessons learned over a lifetime of public speaking while holding executive offices.

2017 Oct C20 – The Changing Political Landscape And Economic Reform

Shinzo Abe’s return as PM ended a revolving door of Prime Ministers. Political stability has brought the implementation of committed, strategic economic reform resulting in economic growth, job creation, deregulation and increased numbers of women and migrants in the work force.

The Lower House election scheduled for October 22, 2017 has highlighted that there is a changing political landscape in Japan that will have consequences on the economic momentum accrued over the past 5 years.

In the October luncheon, CI membership will welcome Senior Associate Professor Stephen Nagy of Tokyo’s International Christian University. Mr. Nagy will engage in a dialogue with CEOs on the possible economic consequences of the forthcoming Lower House Election and how this will affect both the political landscape as well as our businesses.

CEO Insights- View From The Top Oct 2017

September was a very enlightening month at CEO Insights.  In our lunches, we gained a lot.
  • In the G3 lunch; we discussed the addictive behavior of the digital economy with digital and publishing firm CEO of Custom Media. We saw how companies use software design to bring their clients into a more interactive experience and get them to come back. We also took a short test to determine the level of our own internet addiction.
  • In the C20, our icebreaker was so compelling we spent 30 minutes on it (topic, of course, off the record). Then CEOs found the incredible depth and size of the US bases in Japan and the entirely separate ecosystem of business and influence through the PAE CEO.
  • In the C8 lunch, we were joined by the Somali Ambassador to Japan. We’ve heard of the movies “Black Hawk Down” and “Captain Phillips”, but much like the fake and biased news of CNN and other news media recently, the images of piracy and lawlessness are very misunderstood. No one would have guessed illegal fishing and dumping of raw nuclear waste were a part of the story.  Great work to our GR CEO!
A very insightful CI set of lunches was capped off with our second annual SS BBQ. Bosses from many nations enjoyed the cool autumn evening on our private rooftop BBQ as we enjoyed the lights and some excellent American style cooking.
In addition to upcoming Oct lunches we will have special sessions available to all members (space available basis)
